Mahalo Friends of Niu Valley Middle School, Community, Faculty and Staff: Campus Spruce-Up

Driving by and onto Lancer Country this morning, I was heartened to see the results of "sweat equity" given on behalf of our school. From the repaired sand bags to the white picket fence, trimmed trees, mulch spread, leaves/seeds raked, washed stairwells...you all exceeded the standards. Mahalo from a grateful Head of School. The IB Evaluation Team will be most impressed at the "service component" in action. This Campus Sprucing Up was spearheaded by FNVMS Mr. Paul Bernstein and NVMS Science Teacher Mr. Clyde Kobashigawa. World Class effort by all involved!

Mahalo Nui Posse!

Within a couple of hours after the safety alert was posted, there were "hits," that is community members who may know of the suspect. All information must be directed to the Honolulu Police Department. Thank you for stepping forward for the sake of our keiki and community. Parents, do counsel your child about being in the community safely. Be aware of your surroundings, plan for escape routes. If you get confronted, call 911 for HPD. We care as ohana.

Solitary US Flag Spotted

While having a Costco hot dog with my son this afternoon in Hawaii Kai, I noticed something fluttering on a ridge above Hahaione Valley. The weather was inclement, there were no homes nearby, but it became apparent--An American Flag!! Someone hiked up the mountainside, planted a pole and hoisted the flag. To our military personnel and Veterans who served our country, Mahalo nui, Xie xie, Doomo arigato. Because of you, we can flourish, thrive and enjoy freedoms not seen anywhere else. Happy Veteran's Day from a grateful Principal and school community!
