Hakone Komagatake Ropeway

After departing Mt. Fuji, we were on our way to the Hakone Komagatake Ropeway.  Mt. Komagatake is Hakone's highest mountain with views of the Izu islands, Lake Ashinoko, the coastline of Japan, and Fuji-san.  Our tour continued on with a mini boat cruise on Lake Ashinoko.

A group photo was taken once we arrived at Mt. Fuji.  There were many tour buses parked along the way since it is a popular tourist destination for foreigners and the Japanese.

It was a looong bus ride to Mt. Fuji but we had a beautiful view of Fuji-san peering above the clouds.

Kikugawa City's mascot, Kikunon, made a surprise visit at the welcome party and greeted our students.  Everyone was thrilled to take a group photo with the cute character!

Incense Burner at Sensoji Temple

While visiting Sensoji Temple in Asakusa, our students covered themselves with smoke from the incense burner.  Our tour guide explained that by doing so, we will be purified or healed.  She also explained that if we cover our heads with the smoke, we will become smarter.
