Thank you for visiting our Music Department Website. The Calendar will be your most useful portion of this site, so please bookmark it and visit it regularly. Bravo to the members of our Concert Band for their fantastic performance at the Hawaii Band and Orchestra Festival on Saturday, March 12, 2016. The international event, which was held at the beautiful Roosevelt High School Auditorium, also featured ensembles from Kaiser High School, Kalani High School, Mexico, and Alaska. A valuable part of the festival was the clinic by Mr. Jay Gephart, Director of Bands at Purdue University. Mr. Gephart worked with the band for over an hour, helping us to improve our musicianship. During the performance, the two adjudicators provided the ensemble with valuable feedback, as well as an overall rating. Both judges awarded the band Superior Ratings. Up next.....Parade of Orchestras!

Those who were absent on the original test date should come at this time as well. Students who earned a "7" may choose to retake the test if desired. The goal is for everyone to earn a "7" or "8".

I am pleased to announce that the Concert Band is officially commited to performing at the American School Band Directors Association (ASBDA) National Conference in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in July 2014. This is indeed an honor, as this is the 60th Anniversary Conference, and our students will premiere a work written for this conference by renowned band composer Brian Balmages. Activities include sight-seeing in Iowa as well as Chicago. We will travel with an entourage of 87 students and 23 adults. Members of the Concert Strings and Polynesian Music Ensemble were invited to participate in the tour as well. Students are expected to work extremely hard to represent all music programs in the State of Hawaii.
